A weekly shiur by Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin, Rov of Anash in London, explores interesting Torah questions and halachic dilemmas.
The following issues are discussed by Rabbi Raskin in this week’s episode:
1) After Maariv on the night of Yom Kipur, the Rebbe זי”ע remained at his place in Shul and joined in with the communal recital of the whole Tehillim. The source of this minhag:
2) What is the brocho for Cognac?
3) May one recite a brocho on a drink near a swimming pool?
4) What is the brocho on Shnitzel (coated in breadcrumbs)?
5) At Tachanun, the Rebbe would not put his head down on his arm. Source:
6) Reuven sells Shmura Matzos all over the world. Shimon ordered a shipment in good, but the delivery was delayed – due to unexpected developments – until after Pesach. Does Shimon have to pay for the order?
7) May one defrost food on Tuesday, 1st day of Yomtov, to be served at the meal on Tuesday evening?
8) The practise of Aveilim ר”ל, or those observing Yohrzeit, to add a Mishna and Kaddish deRabonon after Davening – is that unique to Chabad?
9) I have been quoted in Paris as having said: There are foods that Sefardim consider to be Mezonos, and Ashkenazim consider them to be HaMoitzie. Since most people say Mezonos, therefore the minority may also say Mezonos. True?
10) Does a Pidyon haBen qualify to exempt Tachanun?
